You don’t have to be a hero to accomplish great things. You can just be an ordinary chap, sufficiently motivated to reach challenging goals.

Spreading Positivity

In his book Flourish, Martin Seligman, expresses a goal to have 51% of the world’s population flourishing by 2051.  Even for a founder of positive psychology, that is one ambitious goal.  And, like most great endeavors, merely working toward that goal can create tremendous value.  I like his challenge. The emerging fields of positive psychology, neuroscience and behavioral economics have a lot to offer individuals and organizations to help them flourish.  But even if everyone exposed to these lessons practiced them, we still have to reach roughly 3.6 billion people to make 51% of the population more positive and resilient.  That is a lot of conversations.

The evidence that links positivity  to better life outcomes is irresistible.  So for my part I am eager to spread the word.  Presentations, i.e. conversations with large groups, are a great way to do this. If you want your audience to:

  • Understand the scientific evidence that positivity leads to better life outcomes, give me a call.

  • Learn how we can all build the “habits of happiness” i.e. the emotional skills to become more resilient and successful, I am happy to guide the class.

  • Discover how money “can” (yes you read that right) and cannot buy happiness, I can help them figure out how to get the biggest emotional bang for their bucks.

There is no shortage of challenge facing us and our communities.  Let’s make the world a more positive and resilient place together, one presentation or conversation at a time.  This is not a panacea.  But, more positive and resilient people is a step in the right direction, toward our collective next peak.
